Children in Need at Shane Global Hastings

children-in-need-2014Staff at Shane Global Hastings raised an incredible £141 for this worthy charity on 28/11/14.

We held a raffle and had many prizes donated from staff. Some of the prizes were: our school café donated a free lunch, local attractions donated free tickets and the local coffee shop donated a wonderful ceramic Xmas mug which Steve had his eye on. When the raffle was drawn, this mug was chosen by a student... poor Steve. Steve then had to go and answer a telephone call... and in his absence he won a raffle prize... so being the nice staff that we are we chose his prize for him... a mug... saying 'Miss High Maintenance!!' Not quite the same but he saw the funny side.

One of the teachers baked a Pudsey Bear (Children in Need mascot) cake and everyone had to guess the weight.
We had 'name the bear' which Athea won and 'guess how many sweets in the jar'. There was also a quiz and a table tennis tournament, so plenty of opportunity to win something.

Bertie, our school mascot (owned by one of the teachers) also came along.
The entry fee to the event was £2.50 for every person in the school... for this they were daubed with a coloured spot (all staff had to wear something spotty... including Bertie) and they received a plate of edible goodies (home-baked buns and Pudsey bear biscuits... painstakingly iced by Frederique) and a hot chocolate drink with lashings of squirty cream and chocolate sprinkles.

Saxoncourt Hosts Sub-Franchise Training for Thailand

Thailand-Sub-Franchise-trainingFrom October 20th to 23rd 2014, Saxoncourt Taiwan hosted training for a group of three new Shane English School sub-franchisees from Thailand. Shane Master Franchisor, Thanapon Piromplat and Thanya Nutthawutthisit successfully recruited this fine group from their efforts at the latest franchising fair in Bangkok.

The staff from Shane English School Taiwan and the Corporate Office did an excellent job of instructing these new recruits on the intricacies of successful school management and operations. We wish all of them the best of luck with their new businesses. We also encourage Thanapon to return soon with another group of friendly sub-franchisees!

Halloween at Shane English School Taiwan!

sest-halloween-2014One of the most highly anticipated western festivals of the year is Halloween, and all Shane schools in Taiwan spent a long time preparing for this event. Schools were decorated and mummies and vampires were invited to join us. Students dressed up as wizards, witches, princesses, super heroes, and even cartoon characters, and teachers took them 'Trick or Treating' around the local area.

We would like to give a big "thank you" to all the parents, who we are certain spent a lot of time worrying about their children's costumes, to all the school staff for helping with preparations, and of course, all the little monsters who promised they would let us live to see another day. All of us had a wonderful Halloween and we look forward to the next one!
