2016 Shanghai Shane English School Franchise Meeting

Further to Shane’s visit to 21 schools in China back in June 2016, CEO and Founder Shane Lipscombe attended the 2016 Shane English Schools China Shanghai Franchise meeting in early December.

Accompanied by Head of Teacher Recruitment Adam Hamilton-Whittle and Jerry Wang, Beijing Operations Director, the trip enabled Shane and his team to discuss closer ties with several of our Shanghai Franchises.

High on the agenda was teacher recruitment and the changing visa requirements, new teaching materials including our new Funtastic Phonics books, Graded Readers and Rising Stars. Also discussed was the new proposed school management and support system for China.

As our franchises continue to grow in China, Shane and the Corporate Team are eager to help and support their development.

In addition, to the Franchise AGM, meetings with several non-group clients further cemented our intention for a prosperous 2017.

2016 has seen a number of changes at the Corporate Office in Taipei. The new centralization of services now equips us to meet 2017s challenges head on.

As 2016 comes to a close, it's a good time to look back...

In keeping with cultural tradition, four bottles of Korean rice wine were poured over the tires of the new school van.

Congratulations, Shane Korea. We wish you tremendous success!

Shane English School Taiwan Celebrates Halloween!

Shane Schools in Taiwan celebrated Halloween in a big way. Hundreds of students from all over the country wore Halloween-themed make-up and dressed up in lovely/scary costumes made with the help of parents and teachers.

Monsters of all shapes and sizes then went Trick or Treating. They were such a sight that they even made the national news! News link: http://www.chinatimes.com/newspapers/20161028000735-260113

Even the schools' "Chef Aunties" got in on the action and made some horrific-looking snacks for the students!

Everyone had a wicked time! See you next year.

Shane Taiwan Holds Painting Competition to Celebrate Our 40-Year Anniversary!

To celebrate our 40-year anniversary, Shane English School Taiwan held a painting competition. The topic of the competition was “Taiwan - My Country”, and over 40 students participated in this contest.

We invited our colleagues in Taiwan's Head Office and several professional art teachers to be our judges. After much deliberation, we chose thirteen works of art. These paintings will be made into desk calendars for 2017 to be sold to parents and students in our Taiwanese schools for charity.

The proceeds of these desk calendars will be donated to elementary schools in remote districts to help them buy more books and other English-learning materials. We hope you enjoy the paintings!
